Making Umqombothi beer! The women were very gracious in involving us with the process of making this traditional Xhosa beer. Probably because we showed so much interest. We boiled a small amount of water in a black pot on the fire. Then we added imitombo (sprouted sorghum) mixed with maize meal and crushed mealie malt; roasting it whilst stirring.
